EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan State’s third-ranked hockey team will take on No. 1 Michigan in a home-and-home series this weekend, the first two of four scheduled regular-season matchups between the Spartans and Wolverines this season.

The teams will meet on the ice for the first time this season at MSU’s Munn Ice Arena at 8:30 p.m. on Friday and at Michigan’s Yost Arena at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

MSU and Michigan split last season’s series 2-2, and Spartans’ head coach Adam Nightingale is 7-7 against the Wolverines in his tenure.

MSU is ranked No. 3 in the polls for the second straight week after getting swept at home by No. 2 Wisconsin to drop the Spartans out of the No. 1 spot. MSU rebounded with a sweep of Colgate last week.
