LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire in northeast Lincoln Thursday evening.

LFR received a report of a structure fire near North 58th Street and Kearney Avenue at 6:11 p.m.

According to LFR, the fire was caused by the careless discarding of smoking materials.

A quick initial attack from first arriving crews prevented the fire from extending, containing the fire to one side of the home.

The structure sustained $25,000 in damages, LFR said.
