OROVILLE, Calif. — On Thursday, the Tehama County man, 33-year-old Fernando Palomares, received a lengthy prison sentence for the 2021 murder of 21-year-old Alicia Flores in the Centerfolds nightclub parking lot near Chico. Palomares was sentenced to nine years plus 75 years, for a total of 84 years to life by Judge Virginia Gingery.

Flores's family and friends filled the courtroom to witness the sentencing. Five family members, including her mother, shared emotional victim impact statements. Her mother brought Flores's ashes and urged the judge to show no mercy to Palomares.
