CORALVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) - The owner of multiple Iowa Popeyes locations has reached a settlement in a lawsuit that alleged its unauthorized use of the Popeyes name and logo.

The settlement involves the restaurants in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Dubuque, Coralville, metro Des Moines and a location under construction in Iowa City.

However, there are some concerns beyond the settlement.

Marlow Burrell, who has worked at the Coralville Popeyes for just under a year, said he has not been fully paid over the past few weeks with some paychecks not arriving on time.

“It’s the holiday season and people are still being screwed over,” Burrell said.

Burrell said he blames the payment issues on the franchise’s Chicago-based owner, Asif Poonja, CEO of JAM Equities.
