ATLANTA — Georgia has scheduled the execution of Stacey Ian Humphreys for Dec. 17, nearly 22 years after he was convicted of killing two real estate agents in a model home in West Cobb.
The execution will mark the state's first in 2025 and the first movement toward closure for the victims’ families after decades of appeals and delays.
Humphreys, who is one of 33 inmates currently on Georgia’s death row, was found guilty September 25, 2007 of murdering Lori Brown and Cynthia Williams inside a model home on Nov. 3, 2003. The case went unsolved for days, prompting fear in the community before Humphreys was arrested in Wisconsin following a police chase.
“There is no urgency to it, because there is no deadline,” said Atlanta attorney Manny Arora said.
