SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Sandy Springs Police, who were called to reports of a man and a woman fighting, ended up shooting the man after he pointed a gun at an officer, police said at a news briefing on Thursday.
The public was told to avoid Roswell Road in Sandy Springs as police investigate. The shooting happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. at Dunwoody Place, according to Sandy Springs Police.
A video posted on social media shows a man lying motionless on the sidewalk, and additional officers arrive and tell witnesses to back away.
In a release from the Sandy Springs Police Department on Thursday afternoon, police said that 27-year-old LaAndre Marktanne Thomas of Jackson, Mississippi, was reported by a caller that he had assaulted her as she was walking her dog. After providing a description
