Alaina Sweat led all scorers with 19 points as Mechanicsburg girls basketball earned its first win of the season, beating William Penn 40-34 Thursday.

The Wildcats trailed heading into the fourth quarter, but Asha Pratt and Sweat combined for 12 points in the final frame to help take the lead. Pratt finished the game with 11 points.

Kimora Hawkins led William Penn with 15 points in the contest.

Mechanicsburg moved to 1-2 on the season. William Penn dropped to 1-1.
