Upkeep on a town like ours with way more than three centuries under its belt ain’t easy.

Even the newer stuff takes gussying up from time to time.

Every year, the Community Preservation Committee goes over a list of asks and decides which ones are deserving of a dollop of dough from the pot of money set aside for restoration and improvements.

That group met on Monday evening to begin sorting through five requests from town departments, the school system and private entities. The CPC will meet again early next year to grade the proposals and make recommendations to the Select Board. Town Meeting voters get the final say on May 4.

This year, the CPC has a shade under $3 million to work with. The five requests add up to $1.91 m
