Three local wildland firefighters have been recognized for their efforts during the 2024 Massachusetts Wildfire Season.

The announcement came as Governor Maura T. Healey, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, Public Safety and Security Secretary Gina K. Kwon and State Fire Marshal Jon M. Davine honored 170 firefighters during the Massachusetts 36th annual Firefighter of the Year Awards on November 25.

The local firefighters, who are stationed at Shawme Crowell State Forest in Sandwich and Manuel F. Correllus State Forest in Edgartown, were honored for their work across Barnstable, Nantucket and Dukes counties.
