The Trump White House said in its newly published national security strategy that the U.S. is "at odds" with its European allies in NATO over their "unrealistic expectations" for the Ukraine war, and sharply criticized them for "subversion of democratic processes" to squash opposition that wants a quicker peace with Russia.
It comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin visits India to shore up a long-running partnership between the two countries, and win Prime Minister Narendra Modi over to his side as the U.S. applies pressure on New Delhi to weaken its ties to Moscow, particularly its large-scale oil purchases that have helped to fund the Kremlin's war in Ukraine.
