State Sen. Nickie J. Antonio’s recent explanation in a Plain Dealer/cleveland.com guest column of her decision to accept and vote for the new congressional districts for Ohio was well-reasoned. Looking forward, she calls for, “A proposal where we can garner statewide and national partner support for Ohio’s final referendum for a redistricting process that puts the people, not politicians at the table crafting Ohio’s districts.” Antonio, the Ohio Senate’s Democratic leader, calls for “a system where citizens, not politicians, draw our lines.”
Great idea to find the right vision before plunging ahead with another effort that falls far short of securing “fair redistricting.”
I offer two ideas for that vision: 1) an emphasis on competitive districts rather than the one Ohioans passed almos
