A violent criminal who was branded "a danger to the public" was jailed for life today after murdering the son of his then partner in a vicious knife attack. ‌

James Thomson was ordered to serve at least 19 years in prison before he can seek to apply for release on parole following the slaying of Callum Pollock. ‌

A judge told Thomson, 35, at the High Court in Edinburgh : "It is clear you represent a danger to the public in general." ‌

Lord Scott pointed out that he has amassed a criminal record, including five convictions for violence and a further eight for possession of blades or other weapons.
