WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The United Way is asking for help with its annual count of the homeless population in Wichita.
The annual point-in-time homeless count is a national effort by professionals and volunteers to estimate the number of Americans who don’t have safe and stable housing.
In Wichita, the United Way of the Plains will be doing its point-in-time count on Jan. 29th. The organization is asking for 60-70 volunteers to help with this year’s count. All of the volunteers will be trained and paired with an experienced professional.
Volunteers will go out into the community with teams to some of the known homeless encampments. They’ll fill out surveys with our unhoused neighbors, hear their stories and give out incentive bags.
