Fresh number plates are facing the axe from the DVLA with £1,000 penalties looming for drivers.

The DVLA has unveiled the registration plates that will be off-limits from 2026, deemed offensive or unsuitable by officials.

The organisation, which oversees nearly 53 million driver records and more than 47 million vehicle records, flogs personalised registration plates through its website.

Twice yearly, it scrutinises fresh number plates and determines which combinations to withhold, following evaluation of whether they might signify insults, profanity, sexual allusions, drug references, racist, sexist or LGBTQ+ implications, alongside certain political and religious connections.

The following registration plates have been blocked this year:, reports Birmingham Live .
