Police were called to meet an Edinburgh Jet2 flight when it landed in Tenerife after a cabin crew member was allegedly 'attacked.'

The incident took place onboard flight LS739 which left the capital at 7.50am on Friday, December 5, and landed on the Spanish island at 12.30pm.

Jet2 crew members are understood to have requested help from police as well as medical assistance upon arrival at Tenerife south airport.

The Daily Star reported air traffic controllers on 'X' claimed during the journey there was a fight in which it was claimed a cabin crew member (TCP) was attacked.

From the tower, the controllers assured the flight that they cut "to the maximum" on the approach of the plane to facilitate a priority landing.
