Southern starting safety Treylan James will enter the transfer portal , he announced on social media Wednesday. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound redshirt sophomore from Baton Rouge spent one season at Southern after starting his career at Prairie View.
“Thank you, Jag Nation, for embracing me from day one,” James said in a statement. “The Baton Rouge (area) will always be home, and I’m grateful for every moment I spent on that field. After careful consideration, I’ll be entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility left.”
James, who went to Madison Prep, had 39 total tackles (23 solo), six pass breakups and three tackles for loss in 12 games. His six pass deflections were tied for the second most on Southern (2-10, 1-7 SWAC). His best game was in Southern’s 34-29 win at Mississi
