SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Most people think of marching bands as high school or college ensembles, but one local school is challenging that norm with much younger performers.
Nuner Elementary School and Fine Arts Academy started its own marching band with a color guard earlier this year, marking the first time an elementary school in the area has formed such a group.
“It’s just like a stress reliever, like you can play it when you are bored, when you are upset,” said Ty’arra Laughman, a clarinet player.
Joelyn Robertson, who plays saxophone, said she can “sometimes let out all of my anger into blowing into the saxophone.”
