Six people are in the hospital after a "chemical exposure incident" at the Cleveland Mars Wrigley plant Friday morning, according to Bradley County official Adam Lewis.

Just after 9:00am, emergency crews responded to 3500 Peerless Road NW, where medical personnel evaluated seven people on scene.

Medics treated and released one of the patients at the scene.

"At this time, there is no danger to the public and no ongoing threat beyond the facility," Lewis stated. "Operations within the affected area of the plant were temporarily paused out of an abundance of caution."

We've reached out to Mars Wrigley for comment on the incident.

Our team is on the scene working to learn more.
