A winter weather advisory has been issued for most of southeast South Dakota with 2 to 5 inches of snow expected to fall across the region over the weekend.

The roads, especially bridges and overpasses, could become slick and hazardous as snow spreads across the area from morning until night on Dec. 6, the weather service said.

A light snow was already expected to move through the area the morning of Dec. 5, with a quarter to half an inch of accumulation predicted, along with the potential for brief visibility reductions and slippery conditions for travelers.
