WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A driver went off the road late Thursday night, crashing into an SUV and slamming into two occupied homes on Wilson Road before running from the scene, according to Delaware State Police.

No one inside the homes was injured, but neighbors say speeding on the road has become dangerous and increasingly frequent.

Just before midnight on Dec. 4, troopers responded to the 1200 block of Wilson Road and found an unoccupied Subaru Forester in a front yard with smoke coming from the engine compartment.

Police say their preliminary investigation determined the Subaru had been traveling eastbound when it left the lane, hit a parked Volkswagen and then struck the sides of two homes, including one family's living room.
