Anticipated rainy weather issue will put a damper on the 2025 Algiers Bonfire & Concert for Saturday, but organizers say the blaze on the levee will get lit Sunday instead.
The Algiers Economic Development Foundation, which organizes the event, said the move to 2 p.m. Sunday was prompted by safety and enjoyability for all.
Held at 200 Morgan St. on the Algiers Batture, the bonfire is a seasonal celebration that includes live music, food vendors and a marketplace. All are anticipated to make the move to Sunday.
The bonfire is an homage to the hundreds that appear along the Mississippi River levee on Christmas Eve, particularly in St. Charles, St. James and St. John the Baptist parishes, on both east and west banks.
