Iowa State basketball , ranked No. 9 in the latest coaches' poll, plays at No. 1 Purdue on Saturday, Dec. 6. And the Cyclones are hoping to have their starting point guard available for the big game.

Senior Tamin Lipsey has been sidelined with a groin injury since the closing minutes of Iowa State's 83-82 victory over St. John's on Nov. 24. But coach T.J. Otzelberger offered an encouraging update on Dec. 5.

"Tamin practiced today," Otzelberger said. "We'll keep evaluating him as we go into the game but that's a positive sign that he did practice."

Otzelberger said staffers would re-evaluate Lipsey when they arrive at their hotel on Friday afternoon, and again on Saturday morning.

"If all signs point to him being ready to go, then we'll look for him to play,"
