Governor Tim Walz condemned President Donald Trump’s repeated comments regarding Somalis in the state of Minnesota, calling them "racist lies and slander."
Before addressing the state budget forecast at a Thursday news conference, Walz called out Trump’s recent remarks that involved referring to the entire Somali diaspora as "garbage" who should "go back to where they came from" to fix their own country.
"Donald Trump calling our Somali neighbors 'garbage' and the state of Minnesota a 'hell hole'...I’m assuming (this) is unprecedented for a U.S. President. We have little children going to school today (whose) president called them garbage,” said Walz.
