ANDOVER, Mass. —
Firefighters were called to Holt Road in Andover on Friday morning for reports of a dog that had fallen through the ice.
Firefighters immediately put on water rescue suits and sent out the Rapid Deployment Craft to enter the freezing water, according to the Andover Fire Department.
The dog was brought back to shore and transported to a local animal hospital by Andover Animal Control for treatment and evaluation.
Andover Animal Control posted a reminder to pet owners to keep their dogs leashed, especially near water in the winter months, where water may appear solid but can be very thin.
