For the second day, employees at the Starbucks on Clinton Street in Iowa City braved some of the coldest temperatures in the country, joining Iowa Starbucks Workers United and Starbucks Workers United to demand a fair contract and protest what they call the company's unfair labor practices.

The strike, dubbed the "Red Cup Rebellion," began on Starbucks' Red Cup Day on Nov. 13, when customers may receive a free, reusable red cup with a beverage purchase. It was one of the busiest seasons for the brand.

The Iowa City location is among more than 145 unionized locations in more than 100 cities across the United States, where employees were scheduled to walk out Thursday, Dec. 4, and will be on strike until Starbucks Workers United's three core demands are met. The demands are for better h
