BBC stalwart Dave Monk has tragically died at the age of 72 following a battle with pancreatic cancer .
Known for his nearly four-decade-long stint as a radio presenter on BBC Radio Essex, Dave was diagnosed with the illness in 2024.
Born David Travis, he was one of the pioneering hosts of BBC Essex when it hit the airwaves in 1986, and reported on monumental events such as the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
Dave's parting words to his listeners were: "Look after yourself, have a lot of fun, and don't forget, the more you laugh, the more you live. Goodbye."
Tributes have since poured in for the beloved broadcaster, with Robert Thompson from BBC Local hailing him as "the voice of Essex
