Dave Monk, known for his work with the BBC, has died at the age of 72.

The BBC Radio Essex presenter underwent a battle with pancreatic cancer, after being diagnosed with the disease in 2024.

He was a familiar voice to many who tuned into the BBC over a four decade time-frame, evening being one of the first original hosts of the local radio show back in 1986.

Dave covered a number of major stories, such as Queen Elizabeth II's death, with listeners remembering his final words, urging every person to "look after" themselves.

The presenter said: "Look after yourself, have a lot of fun, and don’t forget, the more you laugh, the more you live. Goodbye.”
