ST. CHARLES, MI — Earlier this year, a St. Charles mother contacted two different police agencies to report she and her son were being harassed by a teacher and coach. Though no criminal charges were filed against the educator, Aaron R. Hemgesberg, the district suspended him while an investigation took place.

More recently, the mother has targeted Hemgesberg and St. Charles Community Schools with a federal lawsuit .

Superintendent Ronald Stanley on Sept. 22, 2025 — four days before the lawsuit was filed — placed Hemgesberg on non-disciplinary paid administrative leave pending the outcome of East Lansing-based Thrun Law Group’s investigation for his “potential board policy violations.” As such, the district prohibited Hemgesberg from being on school property or attending school function
