CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was rescued from the Chicago River downtown Friday, Chicago fire officials said.

It was not immediately clear how the man ended up in the river.

Temperatures are in the 20s downtown Chicago Friday.

CFD officials said the man was being taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in very critical condition.

ABC7 Chicago captured video of the scene just after noon Friday near Wacker Drive and State Street in the Loop.
