An artist has beaten his own world record for creating a sculpture so small that it can only be compared to a human blood cell.

David A Lindon, from Bournemouth, Dorset, has created a tiny sculpture called The Yellow Smiley Face, which sits on a first-class stamp as a single microdot on the eye of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The sculpture is no bigger than a particle of talcum powder, measuring a mere 0.01104mm by 0.01233mm.

His artwork was so small that he sought help from scientists at Bournemouth University to measure the sculpture and verify the record using their specialised, high-resolution microscopes. He now holds the new Guinness World Record for creating the smallest handmade sculpture.
