LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The City of Lansing’s Code Blue cold weather plan will remain in place as high temperatures plunge into the teens and overnight lows dip into the single digits.

The City activated its extreme Cold Weather plan back on Wednesday, Nov. 26, and it was supposed to last through Saturday, Dec. 6. But the city has decided to extend its plan through Friday, Dec. 12th

The plan is in effect each night from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Code Blue allows local shelters to operate for additional hours and temporarily increase capacity. It also allows the Fire and Police Departments to transport those in need to local shelters.

The last time Lansing dropped into the single digits was back in February but we’re expected to break that streak Thursday night into Friday. Thanks to some breaks
