TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - A Tallahassee man was indicted in federal court in connection with a school shooting threat that prompted the closure of three Leon County Schools on Nov. 12, according to the Northern District of Florida U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Demetrius Murray, 33, was arrested in Gadsden County just hours after the alleged threat and was charged with written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury or conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism, according to court records.
Murray appeared before a judge for his arraignment in federal court on Thursday.
His trial is scheduled for Feb. 2, 2026. If Murray is convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison on each threat count, according to the attorney’s office.
