MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Sheriff's Department reports deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on US 30 near Union Road around 9:18 a.m., Wednesday.

The report states a 2011 Jeep Liberty, driven by a 70-year-old woman, was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of US 30.

Deputies say the woman was attempting to self-harm by colliding head-on with a 2025 International semi-truck with trailer.

The crash occurred east of the intersection with Union Road.

The woman was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and to be evaluated by staff for suicidal ideation/attempt.

Authorities believe alcohol to be a contributing factor in the crash.

The semi-truck driver, a 69-year-old man, reported no injuries during the investigation. Share
