Honolulu firefighters rescued three teens who got lost while hiking off the Maili Pillbox Trail on Thursday evening.
The Honolulu Fire Department received a 911 call for the lost hikers at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, and responded with six units and 14 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene in about 20 minutes and deployed a drone to search for the group as well as the best route to them.
Firefighters also ascended the trail on foot to begin the search by ground.
HFD said three teenage girls were reported to have been hiking for two hours and became lost after going off-trail.
HFD’s Air 1 helicopter was able to locate the girls at 5:55 p.m., and lower rescue personnel by their side. They were medically assessed, found to have no injuries, and transported to a nearby landing zone at 6
