A former chief court clerk for Earle was arrested Thursday after an investigation stemming from an audit that revealed financial discrepancies during her tenure, according to a news release from the Arkansas State Police.
Chiquita Moore, 41, faces one felony count each of theft of property and tampering with a public record, the release says.
An Arkansas legislative audit revealed approximately $23,671 in discrepancies tied to Moore's tenure with the city, the release says.
Moore was booked into the Crittenden County jail Thursday and released on her own recognizance, the release says.
State police's Criminal Investigation Division began the investigation on Feb. 12 in response to a request from the 2nd Judicial District prosecuting attorney, the release says.
