SEATTLE — Seattle police on Friday released body-worn video showing the moments leading up to a fatal shooting in South Seattle earlier this week , after receiving authorization from the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), which is leading the independent investigation into the incident.
Under state law the release of information related to the Dec. 2 officer-involved shooting is managed by KCSO, which is serving as the independent investigative team for the Seattle Police Department.
The man killed has been identified as Christian Nelson, according to the medical examiner's office and an online fundraiser.
Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes previously said officers responded around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday after a caller reported a shirtless man walking near Martin Luther King Jr. Way South
