It’s the season of giving — and one long-running Anchorage holiday tradition brought in big support for kids across Alaska.

Radio station KWHL marked its 31st year partnering with Toys for Tots, hosting its annual holiday broadcast at the Midtown Mall.

Community members showed up with toys and donations, helping raise about $25,000 and collect more than a thousand toys. Organizers say the effort helps create lasting memories for children whose families may be struggling this holiday season.

" It's been a great success this year. It's only my third year being a part of it, but I absolutely love it and anything that we can do for the kids," said Joe Campbell with KWHL.
