Anchorage residents could soon see a small increase in their water and wastewater bills. The Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility is seeking approval for new rates that could take effect early next year.
AWWU has proposed a combined rate increase totaling about $5.46 for a single-family home with both water and wastewater service. The utility says the adjustment is needed to maintain current service levels and financial stability.
The AWWU Board approved the proposal in November, and the Anchorage Assembly has now forwarded it to the Regulatory Commission of Alaska for review. If approved, the rate changes could take effect on or before February 12, 2026.
