MINNEAPOLIS — On Monday, Rhoda Christenson said she received a call from a neighbor that her husband, Abdulkadir Sharif Abdi, had been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

"I'm driving on the road, and she goes, 'Hey Rhoda, ICE is in your apartment.' I was silent for a minute," Christenson said in a phone interview. "I was really, really upset, because I hadn't said goodbye. We didn't have a plan."

Abdi, 47, was one of at least 12 people detained this week during ICE's "Operation Metro Surge," including five from Somalia, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
