HENNEPIN COUNTY, Minn. — The case of an alleged Twin Cities serial rapist has taken on political overtones, with accusations flying back and forth between federal and local prosecutors.
Abdimahat Bille Mohamed, 28, is federally charged with kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl in December of 2017. The criminal complaint also documents the violent alleged rapes of three other women between February of 2018 and May of 2024, when police arrested Mohamed at his apartment following the reported assault on his fourth victim.
Court documents say on April 17, 2025, Mohamed pleaded guilty after striking a deal with Hennepin County prosecutors that included dropping charges in one of the rapes. He was sentenced the following month to a stayed sentence of 36 months in the workhouse, all of whic
