LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A man found guilty of killing a Louisville construction worker and shooting an off-duty Louisville Metro Police Department officer will likely be behind bars for the rest of his life.
Keyshaun Stewart is facing two consecutive life sentences for the shooting that happened back in 2021 on the Watterson Expressway near Dixie Highway. Fred O’Bannon, a father of five, was killed while Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officer Chris Lane was shot in the face.
Stewart was found guilty but mentally ill of murder, criminal intent to murder, and fleeing or evading police.
As Stewart looked straight at her, O’Bannon’s mother, Anita, shared how much her life had changed after Stewart killed her son.
“You disrupted families that we didn’t ask for,” she pointed out.
