OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - Owensboro is earning attention in the national basketball world, and the Grind Session is a big reason why.

“The Grind Session is 30 teams in Owensboro over this 3 and a half days. The economic impact for this tournament alone estimated about $453,000 in our community. That’s real money and real jobs right here in Greater Owensboro,“ Claude Bacon, president and CEO of the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation (GOEDC) said.

He says the event brings in extra event staff, local trainers, security and concession workers.

“That’s working time in this community during this Grind Session tournament, that would not be here be it not for the Grind Session,“ Bacon said.

The tournament is also bringing thousands of visitors and players to Owensboro.
