TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - For the second straight season, the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts are Class 4A state champions.
On Friday, Dec. 5, Mica Mountain crushed top-ranked Arcadia 42-17 in Tempe.
Mica Mountain (12-2) was the defending 4A champion after routing AZ College Prep 42-13 last season.
Head coach Jay Campos had the Thunderbolts in the title game for the second time in their first four seasons of varsity football. Last season, Pat Nugent led Mica Mountain after a decades-long coaching career that included coaching stops at Flowing Wells, CDO, and Cienega.
The Bolts made the most of several miscues by Arcadia (13-1) to hand the Titans their first loss of the season.
