A man was injured after a chunk of ice smashed through the windshield of his vehicle after falling off a semi-truck driving in front of him in McHenry County Friday afternoon, authorities said.
Around 12:51 p.m. Friday, authorities in Marengo responded to a crash on the 9200 block of South Grant Highway and found a work van with a gaping hole in its shattered windshield. The work truck was branded with the company logo for ASAP Plumbing & HVAC, a company based in Woodstock.
Authorities learned during their investigation that "a chunk of snow or ice had fallen off a semi-truck" and struck the man's windshield.
The driver was evaluated by paramedics at the scene and taken to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries, authorities said.
The semi-truck driver did not remain at the scene, tho
