BROOK PARK, Ohio – An intoxicated Brook Park man, 33, was arrested at about 6 p.m. Nov. 25 after he crashed his Jeep Compass into another vehicle at Smith and Hummel roads.
The man told police that he was driving northbound on Smith. He took a wide right turn onto eastbound Hummel, going left of center. The Jeep hit the other vehicle in front of Best Reward Federal Credit Union, 5681 Smith.
No one was injured in the crash.
The man smelled like alcohol. His eyes were glassy and he mumbled his words. He called his mother for insurance information, saying he felt bad for waking her at 2 a.m., even though it was 6 p.m.
The man said he had been heading to Holy Cross Cemetery on Brookpark Road “to pay my respects.” He said he had consumed only two regular-sized glasses of wine at a friend’s
