A nearly day-long standoff in Osceola County ended late Friday night when sheriff's deputies fatally shot a suspect after he fired his weapon following negotiations, officials said.
Deputies with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Jamison Apartments around 10:40 a.m. Friday to investigate a domestic battery incident that occurred overnight.
When deputies tried to contact the 30-year-old suspect, he locked himself inside his apartment. The suspect subsequently began broadcasting live on Facebook, making suicidal remarks and displaying a handgun.
Throughout the day, hostage negotiators and family members attempted to convince the man to surrender.
