TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - A dramatic rescue unfolded on West Grant Road when a vehicle fire threatened the lives of pets trapped inside.

Bystanders quickly intervened, rescuing the pets and extinguishing the flames with fire extinguishers. One dog, however, was unconscious due to smoke inhalation.

A veterinary technician bystander performed CPR on the unconscious dog. The Tucson Fire Department's Engine 4 "A" crew used a PetAlert rescue mask to supply fresh oxygen.

The dog began breathing independently and was up and wagging its tail by the time the scene was cleared.
