DULUTH — Duluth East goalie Nolan Nygaard did everything he could Friday, making 37 saves in net, but Greyhounds fell to Holy Angels 3-2 in overtime Friday at the Heritage Center.
The Stars went up one early in the first, but East sophomore Zane Medlin blocked a puck off his chest near the Greyhounds’ blue line.
He controlled the puck and skated ahead of Holy Angels defense, firing the puck past the Stars goalie for his first varsity goal.
After killing off a 5-on-3 power play in the second period, East (0-3-1) earned its own two-man advantage and sophomore Liam Brooks capitalized with a goal to put the Greyhounds up.
The Stars’ Madden Brown scored about 5 minutes into the third and Lincoln Ayers Assad scored a power-play goal with 1:27 left in overtime to give Holy Angels the win.
