Roman Catholic left Chapman Field less than a year ago on the wrong side of a thrilling 34-31 overtime classic in the PIAA Class Class 5A championship game against Bishop McDevitt.

The Cahillites’ offensive performance left a lot to be desired, especially quarterback Semaj Beals.

A statline of 13-33 for 139 yards and two interceptions on top of getting banged up in overtime marked a poor performance from the then junior.

Beals first go at the state championship wasn’t the best, but he was determined to make sure his second went differently.

“I wasn’t going to sleep without this dub,” Beals told PennLive.

In Roman’s 28-6 victory in its rematch with McDevitt in the 2025 PIAA 5A title game, he torched the Crusaders going 12-17 with 168 passing yards and three total touchdowns.
