MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - One man has been charged as an investigation continues into a shooting death in Martinsville.

The night of December 5, 2025, Henry County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to 8884 AL Philpott Highway to reports of a shooting.

The preliminary investigation indicates a small gathering was being held at the home when there was a loud knock at the back door, with someone yelling, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The people in the home went outside to see what was going on, and found a man, carrying a gun, who assaulted them. The people went back inside the home, with the man with the gun trying to follow them in.
